They way I wrote this you may think that the cons outweigh the pros, but I don't see it that way. This is very rare and not that important, but it's still something to keep in mind. For example, instead of American Dash-8s you'll see Dornier 328s, which they don't operate in real life. Some liberties have been taken with planes/repaints. Also, the interface can get really, really slow at large airports. Before you even get started, you'll have to fix endless validation errors at most airports. Side note about WED editing- it's fucking infuriating. If you want to see specific airlines parked at specific terminals, you'll need to assign them yourself in WED. Unfortunately, many scenery developers, especially freeware ones, don't include perfect ground routes and parking spaces.Īt some airports that haven't had 'flows' set up properly in WED, planes will arrive and depart in opposing directions, regardless of wind direction. Note that this isn't WT's fault- it can only work with what the airport gives it. Thankfully, people are creating ground routes and publishing them on the org, but if you fly to obscure, out of the way airports a lot, you'll most likely have to create taxi routes yourself in WED, which is extremely time consuming. You won't get any dialogue box telling you this, you'll just figure it out when you land there and don't see any aircraft departing. However, at some airports, such as T_Fleck's KMSP and KCVG, it will seem like ground routes have generated just fine, and planes will appear at the gates/land/taxi back to parking, but they won't taxi for departure because there are ground route errors. Annoying, but at least you know what to expect. For those that are just flat-out not compatible, you'll get an error message when trying to generate ground routes, and won't see any traffic at that airport. There are quite a few third-party airports that aren't compatible yet, or aren't fully compatible. So, I have to remember to press 'resync' before I land. You can expect to see a sea of American Airlines planes at DFW, and a large number of europe-bound heavies leaving bug US hubs in the evenings, just like in real life.ĭespite my airports being set up properly, I always see a clump of planes sitting on the runway at my arrival airport. I always hated seeing, for example, Delta MD-80s in Paris, or Air Asia A320s in San Diego, which absolutely doesn't happen in WT3. You'll see the right planes in the right liveries going to the right placed. Seeing planes taxi around, coming and going, etc is really, really freaking cool. I'll preface this by saying that although it's caused me to want to rip my hair out a few times, I think its worth the money. However, it's getting constant attention and hopefully most of the more important bugs will be fixed soon. I've been playing around with it since release, and right now I'm a bit mixed on it.
